Certified Sustainable Ingredients
At Ao, we source the majority of our pristine ingredients from the remote New Zealand wilderness, and adhere to the stringent standards of EWG and Credo Beauty to assure you that our ingredients meet the strictest standards for your health.
Cold Processing
We follow gold standard practices through every step of our supply chain. Our formulas are manufactured using an innovative and environmentally-friendly method known as cold processing, which not only preserves the integrity of our ingredients (no heating involved) but also significantly reduces energy use during manufacturing.
Next-Gen Digital Printing
The closed-loop printing system we use for our packaging is a new digital press saving up to 30% lower carbon footprint over traditional print processes. And it also utilizes a closed-loop system with no toxic wash-up chemicals and fumes that printing staff are usually subjected to.
FSC (Forestry Stewardship Council) Certified
Our outer packaging is made out of FSC Certified recycled cardboard. We use an innovative glue-less design in which boxes are held shut by tension and a locking mechanism. Additionally, we use no gloss or laminates during printing, to ensure that the cardboard remains 100% recyclable.
Mindful Shipping
Our shipping processes are plastic-free. We use recycled paper shipping envelopes or bags, and no bubble wrap, polystyrene or plastic wrapping around shipping pallets.
100% Product Recycling
Our products are 100% recyclable (even though they’re made with complex airless components). Once you have finished with your Ao product, it can take on a second life – like part of a public picnic table or a kids’ playground. Send it back to us, and we’ll take care of the rest.
We periodically revisit our packaging to improve our environmental impact and reduce unnecessary waste and resource consumption. We have launched a reusable program (refills) and our ultimate goal is to develop the world’s first fully biodegradable airless container solution. It’s a work-in-progress!
