Teen Skin Should Be Handled with Extra Care

Parabens, pthalates, sodium laurel sulfates, oxybenzones and triclosan are synthetic chemicals found in many cosmetic products. It’s well known that these chemicals can be absorbed through the skin.

So what are the implications for teens using products that contain these substances?

A recent study in California looked at the issue of endocrine disrupting chemicals and teenage girls:

This study demonstrates that techniques available to consumers, such as choosing personal care products that are labelled to be free of phthalates, parabens, triclosan, and BP-3, can reduce personal exposure to possible endocrine disrupting chemicals.

Teenage girls are known to be heavy users of cosmetic products. To avoid the potential for disruption to their developing systems, it may be wise to search out products that rely on natural and organic compounds instead of synthetic chemicals.
